If you are not busy cheering for Team USA in tomorow's men's hockey final, could you spare a thought and a hope for Team Canada? This is a nation-defining moment for us. We'd really like to win.
Also, I will be downtown watching and I really don't want a riot.
I watched the Canada vs US game on the big screens outside the Plaza of Nations and Molson Hockey House, and had a great time. The crowd was awesome - everyone in red or a flag or with a handmade sign.
I may or may not be working on a short Hunger Games fic . I don't own the first book (which I do intend to remedy!) so could someone be so kind as to remind me of the name of the girl tribute who ( spoiler! )
This is likely only interesting to Canadians, because we are likely the only ones who care what the rest of the world thinks of us, but I found this article by Slate columnist (and Canadian) Dahlia Lithwick facinating and exactly what I want to say on the whole 'Own the Podium' kerfuffle.
For the flist that is unaware, I live in Vancouver. We have a little sporting event happening here. IT IS AWESOME.

(My new Roomba is vacuuming under my feet as we speak and I love him more than pie. I hate vacuuming with the firey passion of a thousand suns. So worth it!)
